Biography
Sudarshan Shetty (b. 1961, Mangalore) is an Indian artist adept at playing with scale and the everyday perception of objects and their materiality. Working between boundaries of life and death, between what is personal, socially bound or carnally experienced, Shetty’s art embraces sculpture as a kinetic medium in addition to experimenting with painting, ceramic, video, installation, sound and found objects. His artwork has been exhibited in prominent exhibitions abroad, a few notables include the touring exhibition ‘Indian Highway’ (Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art, Oslo, 2009) and ‘Contemplating the Void’, Solomon R. Guggenheim, New York, USA, 2010. He is part of many important public collections such as the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art, Devi Art Foundation, Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, amongst others. Shetty currently lives and works in Mumbai.
