Biography

Phuong Linh Nguyen (b. 1985, Hanoi, Vietnam) is an artist whose multidisciplinary practice spans installation, sculpture and video. She concerns about geographic cultural shift, traditional roots and fragmented history in Vietnam. Her works contemplate upon the visible/invisible truth, form and time, and convey a pervasive sense of dislocation and the ephemeral. Phuong Linh also actively participates in the creation of new opportunities for emerging talents in the arts community. In 2010 she co-founded and organized IN:ACT, an international performance festival in Vietnam, and in 2012 she founded Skylines With Flying People. In 2013, she also co-founded Nhà Sàn Collective following the closure of Nhà Sàn studio, one of the epicentres of Hanoi’s art scene since the 1990’s.

Her most recent exhibitions include “Memories of the Blind Elephant”, Diocletian’s Palace Museum, Croatia (2018) ; “The Last Ride”, Goethe-Institut, Hanoi, Vietnam (2017) ; “So Far So Right”, Taipei Contemporary Art Center, Taipei, Taiwan (2017) ; and “The Picture Will Still Exist”, Dia Projects, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam (2017). Phuong Linh was also the recipient of the Han Nefkens Foundation’s BACC Award for Contemporary Art in 2017. Her works can be found in private and public collections such as the Singapore Art Museum, Post Vidai Collection, Hans Nefkens Foundation, and Kamel Lazaar Art Foundation.
