S.E.A FOCUS 2024
Time: 20.01.2024 – 28.01.2024
Location: Tanjong Pagar Distripark, 39 Kepple Road, Singapore.
S.E.A Focus is a leading showcase and art market hub that aims to bring together a fine curation of established and emerging artists in Southeast Asia. Titled “Serial and Massively Parallel”, the showcase for 2024 focuses on the interplay between humanity and technology. Alongside the exhibitions is SEAspotlight talks, a panel discussion inviting three speakers Yee I-Lann (Silverlens), Heri Dono (The Columns Gallery), and Dinh. Q. Lê (STPI – Creative Workshop & Gallery) to share about curation, collecting, and the art scene across the region. The showcase also includes a film screening featuring Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s 9 short films that contemplate the spiritual world of human consciousness.
We would like to sincerely thank our “extended family members” Diem Nguyen and Nhat Q. Vo for curating and organizing a booth at the showcase on behalf of Sàn Art. The selection includes Truong Tan’s paintings, renowned for their simplification of form and fearless critiques of societal norms, the delicate lines of Le Phi Long’s works, the re-actualised folklore of Nguyen Duc Phuong’s universe, alongside a line-up of emerging voices: Luu An, Nguyen Duc Huy, Rab, Pham The Vinh, and Ton Nu Thi Bich Tram. Focusing on the two dimensional of painting and drawing as their mode of expression, the exhibited artworks approach multiple themes spanning religion, memory, propaganda, urban life, and queer community.
