2-3PM: What does the artist can benefit from Sàn Art Laboratory? 

Sàn Art Laboratory is not a regular residency program; it is a place where the resident artists will be ‘encountered, challenged and debated’ constantly with different creative ideas and thoughts from their talking partners, curators, colleague resident artists and established artists, not only from local but also internationally. If you are practicing or desire the practice art that is based on research and experiment, and are wondering how to become a potential applicant to Sàn Art Laboratory? 3-5PM: How has Indonesian contemporary art developed? 

This is the very rare opportunity that Agung Hujatnikajennong – renown curator in Southeast Asia – comes to Vietnam and especially to Hue to research and share with the local community his knowledge of Indonesian contemporary art. Agung was born in 1976 in Tasikmalaya, Indonesia, and obtained a doctoral degree from the Faculty of Art and Design at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB, 2012) in Bandung. Agung was one of the networking curators for the Singapore Biennale (2006, 2008, 2010). He was also co-curator of Jogja Biennale 2009 and 2013. In 2012, along with Charles Esche and ArtHub Asia he co-curated the Bandung Pavilion at the Shanghai Biennale. Agung curated many important solo shows for Indonesian artists such as Agus Suwage, Handiwirman Saputra, Jompet Kuswidananto, Mella Jaarsma, Heri Dono and Dadang Christanto.

Agung comes to Vietnam for the 1-month residency of Prod/Ponder of program Conscious Realities at Sàn Art. He is researching artist-initiated spaces in Vietnam.
